It’s possible that you don’t know about this, but one of the central departments at Pele Yoetz Center that’s constantly active behind-the-scenes is the Case Management Department. The department isn’t known to many by its name, but it handles hundreds of cases daily and serves as the thread that ties the activities of all Pele Yoetz departments together.
There are those who have defined the division as, “the emergency room of Yerushalayim,” says R’ Yaakov Feldman, department manager, and they aren’t mistaken…

After initial registration by the center’s secretary, all requests are directed here, and from here begins the process of gathering and processing information. The process continues towards the final analysis by the center’s president, Hagaon Harav Dovid Levy shlit”a.
Every request that is received by the division is passed on to one of the division’s expert staff members who gathers all relevant information, while ensuring that everything remains strictly confidential. All missing parts of the picture are carefully gathered together so that the details should be clear enough to formulate an appropriate treatment program, whether it’s pertains to chinuch, mediation, emotional or spiritual health.
At the end of the day, all cases are referred to Hagaon Harav Dovid Levy shlit”a, Nasi of Pele Yoetz Center, for his consultation and guidance. Rav Levy refers the process towards the designated department and charts the way for the referral of the case to the appropriate specialist.
Even once the case has already been relayed to the capable hands of an expert- and here comes the biggest surprise- the department continues guiding and intensely following up. Sometimes, there’s a follow-up process that spans months, and sometimes even more.
“The department will monitor the case after the start of the process in order to ascertain that everything is going as planned,” a department spokesperson explains. “After two weeks, we review the case again to see if the process is moving along based on the goals defined. After a month has passed, there’s a followup examination. And the tracking continues, sometimes for many months, and sometimes even more, all in order to ascertain that things are successfully going according to plan.”
Over the course of a year, the Case Management division deals with more than 2,000 cases, some which have been successfully completed, and some which continue with follow-up for a long time.
After checking our system, we discovered that the division’s task board contains over 100 cases per day (!).
Sometimes, a case will start out as individual care for a bachur dealing with a difficulty, and then develop into complete care for his family members who are enduring a challenging period and require intense and comprehensive assistance.
It should be noted that all of Pele Yoetz’s activities- registering each case, gathering and processing the information, determining and charting a treatment process, and referring the case to the hands of a specialist- are executed free of charge.
Gedolei Yisrael of all sectors commend the department’s activities, and assert that “the Case Management department is one of the pillars of Yerushalayim.”
In recent years, with the expansion of many large kehillos, a need has developed for the establishment of parallel divisions within individual kehillos themselves. Pele Yoetz Center is ready to help them in any way that they can. “We are willing to help every kehillah that comes to learn the ‘secrets of the trade’ from us, all in order to help families begin functioning properly, with the help of Hashem,” they conclude in the department.
