With the start of the winter zman, chadarim in Yerushalayim that participate in Pele Yoetz’s flagship project Al Pi Darko are already noting in satisfaction the remarkable progress manifest among the talmidim who benefit from the program. The aim of Al Pi Darko is to identify and diagnose learning difficulties or disabilities among cheider students and to provide them with the supplementary assistance and help that they need, nipping learning issues in the bud before they spiral into large-scale difficulties and distress.
Behind this remarkable success is a foundation that was discussed at a special kinus for the program’s tutors that was hosted at the start of the zman by Al Pi Darko.

Project Director Rabbi Avrahan Vitman explains that “The kinus was an orientation to the coming winter zman. In the course of the assembly, our tutors were exposed to different chinuch issues and received a vital toolbox enabling them to live up to their sacred role as tutor and mentor. The climax of the evening was a discussion on elevating ourselves as the ultimate means of elevating our talmid and serving as a role model in their lives.”
Tutors shared that the evening and its messages granted them motivation to delve deeper into themselves, enrich their knowledge, and refine their characters with the goal of climbing higher and serving as role models who will elevate their talmidim.
In the course of the evening, the tutors were also exposed to the complexities and challenges in the world of a child who needs help and how he feels and reacts when he struggles to absorb knowledge and skills that his classmates acquire so naturally.
“This is where the tutor comes in,” expressed Rabbi Vitman. “His role is filling in the gaps—be it spiritual, academic or emotional—so the student can integrate successfully into his class and keep pace.”
The special assembly concluded with a trip and uplifting tefillah in Kever Rachel where the tutors joined together in heartfelt prayer that they should merit ascending higher and higher and guiding their talmidim along the path of ascent—to success.
