Following years of behind-the-scenes efforts in Pele Yoetz Center’s Publications Department, the English-speaking community has just received the exciting news that Hagaon Harav Dovid Levy shlit”a’s foundational work on the Jewish home, Shalom V’Reus: The Keys to Building A Strong Jewish Marriage , is now available in English. The original Hebrew edition of the sefer, which was endorsed by Gedolei Hador and popularly received by readers across Eretz Yisrael, has just been translated into English and is now on sale in Jewish bookstores throughout America and Europe. The English edition of Shalom V’Reus features approbations by Gedolim in America, most notably Hagaon Harav Malkiel Kotler shlit”a, Rosh Yeshivah of Beis Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, and Hagaon Harav Eliyahu Dov Wachtfogel shlit”a, Rosh Yeshiva of Zichron Moshe.

The English edition of Shalom V’Reus comes at the heel of dozens of appeals from Yidden in America and Europe who have benefited from the wisdom, shalom bayis and chinuch projects founded and managed by Hagaon Harav Dovid Levy shlit”a, Nasi of Pele Yoetz Center in Yerushalayim. Their repeated requests inspired Pele Yoetz to avail his content on running a Jewish home in the spirit of Torah and chassidus to the English-speaking public, as well.
Shalom V’Reus was first published in lashon hakodesh in Eretz Yisrael, and its captivating, comprehensive and inspiring content immediately attracted readers from all streams of charedi society. In this work, Rav Levy highlights the essential pillars of the Jewish home, presenting them in the pure perspective of the mesorah along with relevant teachings of the Sages and relating them all to our contemporary world. He also offers practical advice and guidance that he acquired throughout years of guiding couples to attain shalom bayis.
The translation and publishing of the sefer in English spanned several years and hundreds of hours of concerted effort by Pele Yoetz’s Publications Department. The Department engaged a team of talented translators, editors, and talmidei chachamim who drew from the wellsprings of Rav Levy shlit”a’s wisdom to adapt the sefer to an English-speaking readership while investing tremendous efforts to preserve the tone, style and format of the original Hebrew sefer, and translate the language effectively without modifying or losing the meaning or spirit of the words.
In his approbation, Hagon Harav Malkiel Kotler, Rosh Yeshivah of Beis Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, relates to the teachings of Chazal on this subject and notes that the sefer contains “Foundations and guidance to building a home… He merited strengthening many homes among Klal Yisrael…The sefer is adorned with the approbations of Gedolei Yisrael…and surely it will greatly benefit and bring peace to homes and to Klal Yisrael.”
Hagaon Harav Eliyahu Wachtfogel shlit”a, Rosh Yeshivah of Zichron Moshe, notes that “For many years he has engaged in this realm faithfully, and his words are pure and free of any refuse or foreign concepts and winds that blow throughout the world, r”l, which our Chachmim do not abide. All his words are based on the traditions of Chazal and daas Torah in the spirit of our ancestors, and this is how he has successfully drawn shalom and reus to many homes. With his great wisdom and insights, he has spared many, many Jewish homes [from tragedy] and guided [couples] along the straight path. Gedolei Yisrael zt”l and shlit”a have endorsed him and they place their trust in him… Without a doubt, [this sefer] is conducive to granting merits to the public and guiding our Jewish brethren to draw blessings and peace into their homes.”
Shalom V’Reus: The Keys to Building A Strong Jewish Marriage is currently on shelves in select sefarim stores across the United States.
