courses for teachers

Society and the world at large have undergone tumultuous changes and huge technological advancements in the past years which have shaken the longtime convention of parental authority in the home. Family therapists assert that nearly every family has at least one child who refuses to accept parental authority beyond the expected friction and disagreements that characterize a child’s adolescent years.

The loss of parental authority in the home and teacher’s authority in the classroom is the primary cause of conflict between parent and child and teacher and student.  Few charedi chinuch faculties undergo the requisite training to properly identify or handle challenges rooted in the student’s family life, and this discourages students from approaching their teachers for help. These challenges only intensify among rebellious students who actually fear contact with authority figures in their lives.

Conflict between children and their educators, whether parents or teachers, is an age-old phenomenon, an intrinsic aspect of the generational cycle that is not expected to disappear completely. Notwithstanding, it is still possible to bequeath society, schools, and families with professional tools that enable them to cope well with tension and reduce its negative consequences.

Contemporary chinuch also involves a unique, unprecedented set of challenges that differ drastically from those endured by parents or educators who were children a generation ago or more. Much of what was once regarded as traditional education and norms are no longer applicable in this day and age or relevant to today’s youth. Pedagogical issues even among young children, the fierce dilemmas and challenges facing our adolescents, and the range of societal barriers are just a drop in the bucket of modern challenges that often place children at odds with their parents.

How can we help?

Pele Yoetz Center under the auspices of Hagaon Harav Dovid Levy shlit”a created a special department offering a wide range of educational courses, seminars, workshops and one-one-on counseling to parents, counselors, parent guides and educators to teach vital skills and tools that help them cope effectively with the above issues.

The Department divides its activities into three realms:

A. Every year, Pele Yoetz arranges an array of courses including 3-4 seminars that are open to the public. Attended by hundreds of participants, these seminars focus on essential topics in chinuch and authority in the home and classroom. The workshops ingrain participants with knowledge and, more importantly, skills to solve problems and implement the solutions into their daily interactions with their children/students.

B. Pele Yoetz also developed a series of courses for counselors, parenting coaches and educational advisors relayed by esteemed Rabbanim and first-rate professionals including clinical psychologists and veteran family therapists who relay current information, resources and tools that empower our course members.

Our Courses

  • Foundations of Therapy & Professional Counseling. This course offers participants a broad range of theoretical knowledge along with practical tools that can be implemented in clinical treatment.

  • Identifying Emotional Distress & Didactic Challenges among Students

  • Training Therapists & Educational Faculties to Build & Restore Parental Authority

  • Parent Coaching. This course encompasses lectures and practicum that empower parents to cope effectively with their children’s needs while introducing them to the worlds of children and adolescents. It includes practicum on topics of family activities within the home.

  • Parental Guidance. This course hones a parent’s understanding of his child’s world and provides tools that enable him to strengthen the child’s emotional world by offering a sense of belonging, attention, trust, responsibility and eliminating power struggles. This course requires the attendance of both parents, and to date, over 300 couples have participated in the course.

C. Chinuch Conferences

Pele Yoetz’s Chinuch Conference, which features riveting lectures, workshops and seminars, is a landmark annual event attracting dozens of educators and parents who eagerly anticipate its breathtaking array of knowledge and resources. The Conference unites world-famous pedagogical lecturers, educators and therapists who speak on a variety of eye-opening topics and offer participants an inside look at the latest innovations in the fields of education and therapy along with practical tools that promote success in the home and classroom.

Over the past years, the dozens of courses, workshops and lectures sponsored by Pele Yoetz have drawn thousands of eager participants, inspiring and empowering parents and educators who unanimously attest to the outstanding tools and skills acquired and success that followed. With demand for courses always on the rise, our Department is constantly endeavoring to identify needs and develop new courses to meet them effectively.

Throughout the trying period of corona, when schooling took a heavy beating and parents were stuck inside their homes for weeks on end with restless children, Pele Yoetz Center launched the ‘Eitzah L’Hatzlachah Hotline’ which relayed a variety of fascinating shiurim on a range of chinuch topics.  The shiurim, broadcast both on the phone and on a special site launched by charedi media channels, were enthusiastically received by listeners and viewers who responded with positive feedback and requests to increase the number of available shiurim online.
